There were two columns in The Times this morning suggesting that London-listed cyber security firm Darktrace may receive a counter offer to rival Thomas Bravo's £4.3 billion bid.
In his Business Commentary column little old Betaville's former The Daily Telegraph colleague and boss - Alistair 'Acebic' Osborne - writes: "who knows, Darktrace may yet lure a higher bid"...

The Times today also reports that specialist London-listed insurer Just Group may be a takeover target.
Well, the suggestion is effectively hooked on some quotes from Barrie Cornes, an analyst from Panmure Gordon.
Now old Barrie Cornes has been covering the British insurance market as a stockbroker scribbler since little old Betaville was a cub reporter on The Daily Telegraph's City desk a long time ago...

Dominic "Dom" Walsh, veteran business hack on The Times, began his market report with an intriguing line about how the Saudi Telecom Company is circling BT Group, the FTSE 100-listed telecoms giant.

The front page hamper story appear to be suggesting that FTSE 100-listed mining group Anglo American - whose shares have halved since Duncan Wenblad took charge - could become a takeover target, possibly for Glencore.
Now, to be fair The Times is basing the story on, er, a theory from a Jefferies analyst...

Hacks at The Times have done a good job of unpacking the shenanigans going on at Jersey-based oil and has explorer Upland Resources.
It would appear the company reveived a takeover approach from a "phanton" offeror. Now, you don't get many of those in the London market.
