Frasers Group in talks to buy Matchesfashion, reveals Sky News

Tucked away in her piece about Shein, the Chinese retail giant, registering an interest in purchasing TopShop from Asos was an almost more interesting line about Umar Kamani putting together a rival bid by forming consortium with Middle Eastern investors to buy the fahsion brand. RARE ALERT: ASOS said to ... - Part 20

So, Mike Ashley's Frasers Group has upped its stake further in online retailer Asos to 22.8pc whilst also increasing the shareholding in rival digital fashion firm Boohoo to 15.1pc.

The dual stakebuilding does raise questions about whether Ashley, a well-known gambler, is ultimately plotting a bid for both companies.

Little old Betaville, though, assumes one of these stakebuildings could be a head fake.....

Little old Betaville suspects it won't be too long now before Mike Ashley's Frasers Group becomes the largest shareholder in ASOS.

That's because yesterday Frasers Group disclosed once again that it had been accumulating more stock in the London-listed online fashion retailer.
