Saudis take major stake in beleaguered Burford Capital

As you can imagine it's rather quiet in the London market today for the obvious reason - 95pc of the City of London are on holiday.

But little old Betaville never stops working. So, I was intrigued by today's TR1 filing in Burford Capital, the litigation funder that has been severely mauled by notorious short seller Muddy Waters.

A mysterious Gulf-based entitity called Mithaq Capital has taken a 5.1pc shareholding in Burford Capital, which has seen its share price crater by 60pc since Carson Block attacked the business with all sorts of allegations (for legal reasons those allegations can't be repeated here).
