Is the tide turning for Odey the Brexiteer? - part 10

Thursday, 8 December 2016, 9:33 am

It struck me while looking over the coverage of the spreadbetting industry over the last 48 hours that none of the mainstream press picked up on the fact that charming Crispin Odey is one of largest shareholders in Plus 500.

According to Bloomberg, Odey Asset Management has a small short position in IG Index but still owns around 7.8pc of Plus 500, which earlier this week saw its shares plunge almost 40pc after the British regulator proposed a clamp down in trading of contracts for differences.

I can't imagine Plus 500's share price crash will have done any good to Crispin's beleguered flagship fund (down around 40pc year to date).

I guess it never rains but it pours for poor old Crispin at the moment.....
