FT airs Axa and Generali merger rumours...-part 2

It would appear the venerable Financial Times was barking up roughly the right tree when it aired the rumours about Italian insurance company Generali merging with a rival, possibly French company Axa, earlier this month. In case you don't recall here is the link:

However, it is, in fact, Italian bank Intesa Sanpaolo that confirmed this morning it is considering a bid for Generali. Here is a link an FT piece on the Intesa story:

Still, I guess there is always time for Axa to step in.....
