Exane BNP Paribas analysts tip Diageo as a takeover target; cites 3G/Anheuser-Busch Inbev as one potential acquirer

It's been a while since market particpants theorised about what Anheuser-Busch Inbev, the world's biggest brewer, would do next. I guess that's to be expected following ABI's £75 billion acquisition of FTSE 100 beer giant SAB Miller last year.

Still, scribblers at broker Exane BNP Paribas are itching to get the ball rolling and has just released its latest (wild?) theories (I have pasted the intro to the note below) on 3G/ABI's M&A intentions (the scribblers also cite Coca-Cola and Pepsi as takeover targets for 3G/ABI).

Now regular readers might have noticed that I have removed the intro to the Exane BNP Paribas note. The polite chaps and chapettes at the broking house kindly asked for me take down their "research" as the broker is moving towards a subscription model (something to do with Mifid II regulations).

That's fair enough, I suppose - little old Betaville is also trying to move to a similar publishing model. So, if you want to read the note, get in touch with Exane BNP Paribas but be prepared to put your hand in your pocket.....
